Here are a few dresses I found that I think are really fabulous. I went swatch shopping today and found some wonderful Silk Organza, which is what these dresses are made from.

30 JULY 11
So this week the save the dates will go out. I've addressed a quarter of the envelopes, and since today is a snow day I will finish the rest. I have to get out to Target to buy Ink for the printer so I can print out the save the dates which I finished designing yesterday. Hiroshi says i'm a genius and that he really knows I graduated from the High School of the Performing Arts ("Fame"). Thanks hun (?). I for one think they came out really nice and i'm hoping everyone will like them. The day is approaching so quickly, it seems like just yesterday that we were finally setting the date and posting it on the original blog, it was August of last year. Back then I felt like we had so much time, but once all this snow is melted away I know it will be upon us. I still need to call about ice and flowers but other then that I have touched base with all other vendors and family members who are helping out. Next week or Saturday i plan on going shopping for fabric swatches for the bridesmaid dresses. "wow boy here we go!"

The Garden
My mother's garden is the location of the Wedding & Reception. The Garden, if you have not seen it, is amazing when in full bloom. I am hoping to have it decorated in a combination of these ideas below. White tables with white chairs. Orange and white lanterns strung up across the length of the yard. A clear top tent over the dance floor draped in fabric. It will be a site to see.
The Boys
So, the boys-Skyler, Dylan & Zach and going to be the best dressed boys in Queens on July 30th 2011. They are going to be wearing tailcoat tuxedos, White on White Shell Tops, and Black Mets caps....can you say "not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good"?
Bling Bling
I want the ladies' jewelry to be very clean, funky, retro, mod. Gold in color and very simple. Their hair, shoes, and dress es are going to be so fabulous that too much Bling will be too much. Same goes for me, during the ceremony, while wearing the Kimono I will not wear any jewelry, the Kimono can stand on its own.
Hair
All the ladies including myself will be wearing hair pieces similar to these. I will be making them, not sure on the colors but perhaps I will make them to match their shoes.
Let Them Eat Cake
Cake, one of the most important things at any wedding. We will be doing a cake/cupcake combination like the tower of cupcakes pictured below. The small cake on top will be decorated like the one below, but the ruffles will be pink, purple, green and orange. We are doing a combination of pink, and orange velvet cupcakes with a white frosting.
Shoes
For the wedding ceremony I will be wearing non traditional Geta, meaning they will not be white as is usually worn by the bride at a wedding . The Geta that I will be wearing will be made from wood, I have included a picture below. For the Reception dress I will be wearing a pair of Badgley Mischka pumps like the ones I have included below. I'm sure on the exact color yet, maybe a dark pink!
Wafrica
So, as I mentioned before, My Goddess Mother Debo will be making my wedding attire which will consist of an African Print Kimono and a grey pleated strapless dress. I got the inspiration for the Kimono from the Wafrica web site, where designer Serge Mouangue makes Kimonos of this kind. Below I have included some images from the site.
Food
So, we will have a combination of Japanese, Jamaican, & American (Southern) Food at the wedding to compliment our cultures. The menu will include Gyoza, Rice, Cod fish cakes, Pork and an abundance of other yummy foods cooked by my mother, master chef Ms. Leslie McKen!!
Wedding colors
Orange Purple Pink Green & White
Center piece
So today I think I found our center pieces. I have had this image for awhile but must have over looked it. It's simple yet stunning, i'll go over with me Mum and me Husband and see what they think. What do you think?
Sumo & Flowers
So, the theme of our wedding is "Sumo & flowers", two things that when you first think about them seems totally unconnected in any way- so very different for one another that they might never come together. Something like Hiroshi and I. But Sumo and flowers have more in common then you think...Just like Hiroshi and I. both graceful, amazing to look at. At times tough and robust but also fragile and delicate. The Sumo & Flower will be seen through out the wedding in everything from the Save The Dates to the wedding Dinner. I hope you learn to to love them both as much as we do
